Series #2 Fashion Timeline & Fabric Knowledge

Five Part Class
Series #2 requires basic sewing skills. The first part will cover the history of fashion by setting up a timeline. Students are encouraged to expand knowledge of past designers and styles to build on future designs. Students will make a binder of timeline and fiber/fabrics swatch to take home. Included in the binder with be basic fiber and fabric terms. Students will practice different fabric treatments and create the Final project by using some of these techniques.

A Roadwork to Creating Your Own Style

Series #1 Fashion Inspiration and Sketching

Four Part Class

This class is intended for the beginner student. It will cover the basics of learning to sketch and inspire student design on their own. Goal by the end of this series is for students to understand how to use croquis, begin to work with flat working drawings (or schematics) and explore ways to get inspiration. Class will also cover trend forecasting. Final project will be a Mood board with a fashion sketch, flat drawing, inspiration photos and fabric samples.

Machine Applique Workshop**

3. Fantastic Feathers***

Learn the stitch path for the traditional, open & double spine feather, then the fun begins. We will embellish them with more stitching & try some fancy & funky feather variations. Learn how to fit feathers into basic quilt blocks such as a square, oval, triangle, etc.
